Salaam. In Surah Al-Alaq, there is a sajadah at the end of the surah. When reciting in prayer, should one do the sajadah, come back up, and then do ruku, or just do ruku and essentially not prostrate by order of the sajadah. Thank you advance.
All praise be to Allah, and may his peace and blessings be on the last and best prophet and messenger, Muhammad.
The Hanbalis give the musalli who made sujood at-tilawah in prayer the option to recite some verses and then bow for rukoo’ or make rukoo’ directly. The Hanafis, Malikis and Shafi’ees prefer reciting a few verses between rising from sujood at-tilawah and bowing. These verses may be from the following surah if the sajdah was at the end of the surah. This is to respect the order of movements and avoid having rukoo’ follow sujood directly. There is no definitive evidence, but I prefer for you to follow the recommendation of the majority.
It is noteworthy here to clarify that the Hanafis and Hanbalis held that the rukoo’ suffices in place of sujood if one ended his recitation with a sajdah verse.
Allah knows best.
