My boss who is a muslim who prays five times and portrays as a religious man promises lot of things to me and other staff and never fulfills them and because of that me and my family suffered a lot what is the position of these kinds people who do not live up to their words but claims they are religious. Jazakallahu hairan.
All praise be to Allah and may His blessings and peace be on His last messenger, Muhammad,
If your perception and judgment are true, then, the break of promises and the crookedness in transactions with people is a huge violation of Allah’s law. Piety is not about praying and fasting much, though they are required, but piety is about conformity with the Divine Will in all regards and at all times and circumstances.
If that person intended to deceive you by making false promises, or makes promises and breaks them despite having complete capacity of fulfilling them, then tha following hadeeth may pertain to his case:
The messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) said,
“Four qualities, whoever has them all is a hypocrite, and whoever has one has a characteristic of hypocrisy until he gives it up: he lies when he speaks; when he makes a promise he breaks it; he betrays his pledges; and he is wicked in disputation.” [Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim from Abdillaah ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him).
Allah knows best.
