AsslamuAlaikum warahmatulla he wabarakatuhu Jazak ALLAH khair for your efforts. My question is about the hairs on women`s legs and arms etc, could you please tell me the ruling on vaxing(removing) of legs and arms hairs for woman? because i heard it is not allowed but i want to confirm this thing by authenticated source, Jazak ALLAH khair.
All praise be to Allah, and may his peace and blessings be on the last and best prophet and messenger, Muhammad. There is no harm in removing the hair that grows on the arms and legs. Hair is divided into three types concerning the legal rulings: 1- Hair that must not be shaved, like the beard for the man (the moustache is not shaved but should be trimmed) and the hair on the scalp of a woman and the eyebrows for both. 2- Hair that should be shaved or plucked, like the hair of the armpit and on the pubic area. 3- Hair regarding which there are no rulings, and that is like the hair that grows on any part of the body aside from what is mentioned here above. For example the hair that grows on the arms and legs for both sexes and the moustache or beard for the woman (in case she gets hair there). With regards to the third type, the person may remove this hair with any non harmful means, such as waxing, shaving, or even permanently by laser if considered safe by the specialists. If a man does this to imitate women or look like them, then it is impermissible for that intention. If he did that for other purposes, such as getting too hot in the summer or some other reason, then it is up to him. For a woman, there is not any harm in removing the hair of the third type. Allah knows best.
