Salam aleekom warahmat Allah wa barakatoh My question is if a person work as a delivery driver for a restaurant, and on there menu they sell chicken, shrimp, beef and other items that is not haram excepet one item that is beer breaded onion ring. Is working for this resturant as delivery driver haram because of the beer breaded onion ring? Jazakom Allah khair
All praise be to Allah, and may his peace and blessings be on the last and best prophet and messenger, Muhammad. The beer breaded onions get fried afterwards and the process of frying removes most of the Alcohol. It is therefore a controversial matter whether it is allowable to consume such food or not. (a Muslim should never put wine on his food whether or not it evaporates). According to the more recent scientific studies, it seems that some of the Alcohol remains despite prolonged cooking. It is the stronger opinion, therefore, that such food items may not be consumed by a Muslim even if someone else made them. As for your inquiry about delivering for a restaurant that sells such item, but mainly sells halal foods, it seems that working for it is allowable since most of what they sell is halal and that small portion of what they sell is controversial, yet your role is to carry it after it has been cooked without you dealing with the beer itself. Allah knows best
